The woodturners we meet

The Straight Turners Woodturning Club will meet at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, at the Gardiner Community Center, 980 Old Gardiner Road.

This month’s presentation is “Beginner Station.” There, members will introduce various aspects of wood turning using equipment to further the beginner’s education in wood turning techniques.

Fiddlers set up a jam session

The Washington Old Time Fiddlers Association will hold a jam session on Saturday, January 13th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 525 Fifth Avenue.

This group plays “old time” music. This is a genre of North American folk music performed on acoustic instruments, usually centered around a combination of violin and plucked string instruments, such as guitar, banjo, mandolin, dobros, dulcimer, autoharp, and ukulele.

Community members are invited to come perform or simply listen and learn about this traditional style of music.

Participation fee is free. However, donations to support the club’s youth scholarship program are welcome. Snacks to share are also welcome.

Yarn circle session held at Sequim Library

The Sequim Library (630 N. Sequim Ave.) will host a new Yarn Circle on Saturdays in January from 9 to 10:30 a.m.

People ages 15 and older can participate in projects such as knitting, crochet, embroidery, and cross-stitch. For those looking to get started, we have basic finger knitting supplies. All experience levels are welcome. We will provide a variety of hot drinks.

Orcustrators take on Sequim Elks Lodge

Orcustrators Musicians Guild will be on stage at the Sequim Elks Lodge, 143 Port Williams Road, on Sunday, January 28th from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m.

Cost is $10 for Elks members and $12 for guests.
