U.S. Air Force veteran Master Sergeant Marsdin (Buster) K. Shaw passed away on July 22, 2016.

Buster was the son of Marsdin and Marion Shaw of Bethel. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Christa;

He was the loving father of Sandra and her husband Steve Frey of Chelmsford, Massachusetts, Andrea and her husband Mark Grossner of Brookfield, Connecticut, and Marsdin III (Chip) and his wife Kathy of Bethel, Connecticut.

Buster was the proud grandfather of Ryan, Heather, Timothy, Brandon, Matthew, Nicholas, Max and Trevor. His surviving siblings include Caroline Dickinson of Naples, FL and Peter Shaw of Bethel, CT.

He served on active duty in the United States Air Force for 21 years, then worked as a microlithography manufacturing engineer for 22 years, and retired as a bus driver for the Brookfield School District.

Buster was an avid fisherman and woodturner. He taught basic and intermediate woodturning at Brookfield Craft Center and Norwalk Woodcraft. He traveled extensively throughout the Northeast and the U.S. demonstrating advanced woodturning techniques and sharing his knowledge. He was most recently involved with Waterbury Youth Services teaching woodturning to inner-city children.

A celebration of Buster’s life will be held at a location and date to be determined.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his name to the Brookfield Craft Center to establish the Buster Shaw Woodturning Scholarship. www.brookfieldcraft.org/bustershaw
