buckfield maine — Wells Wood Turning & Finishing’s work will be unveiled at the White House’s largest annual public event, the Easter Egg Roll, on Easter Monday, April 10th.

Thousands of children gather on the White House lawn for real eggs decorated for the holidays, but the event also features collectible wooden eggs sold by the White House Historical Society as a fundraiser. It will be held at the same time as the release of the commemorative series.

Once again, the Society used Wells Wood Turning to fill an order for thousands of specially made, painted and printed eggs. The company did not say exactly how many eggs were removed from its 30 staff, but the number is believed to be in the tens of thousands.

“It’s a pretty long process,” Simon Barney, vice president of Wells Wood Turning and Finishing, told the Sun Journal near Lewiston, Maine. “It takes several months to complete, from the time an order is received until the product is shipped to Washington, D.C. Our employees have done an excellent job of carefully moving the project through the various stages within the factory. I did.”

The design of the egg is different each year, often with special touches by the current occupant of the White House.

The Official 2023 White House Easter Egg Set includes 5 brightly colored eggs with 2 whimsical engravings. The first stamp of eggs in pink, orange, aqua blue, and green colors depicts the north portico of the White House with decorated Easter eggs. Each egg has a unique blue color, which the White House calls Biden Blue. The eggs have special Easter bunny engravings with pictures of the Biden family pets, Commander the dog and Willow the cat, as well as a friendly bunny.

The President and First Lady’s signatures are printed on the back of the four-color egg, and the Commander and Willow’s footprints are on the back of the Biden Blue egg.

The White House Easter Egg Roll is one of the oldest annual events in the history of the White House. Its origins date back to 1878, when President Rutherford B. Hayes opened the grounds to children on Easter Monday. Among the White House’s many Easter egg roll traditions, wooden Easter eggs have become official keepsakes.
