The Integrated Hobby Complex offers a variety of classes, including our most popular Woodworking Basics class. This class is held every other Tuesday from 5:30pm to 9pm and is taught by wood turning specialist Chris Barrett.

Chris teaches students how to use wood lathes of all sizes to create projects such as large decorative wooden bowls. Students will learn on her three different machines using different types of wood.

Other available classes:

Stained Glass: Class of 10 people held on Tuesdays. This is offered as his 5-week course, where students expand their skills and build projects each week. They make things like stepping stones and window glass, and learn how to cut, polish and solder glass.

Make It Monday: This is a sewing class held every Monday from 10am to 2pm. This is the only class taught by volunteers. Volunteers come from the old community activity center.

Auto Shop: The Auto Shop offers entry-level driving classes and basic car care. The instructor has his ASE certification and offers one-on-one classes. He further customizes his classes by using students’ own cars to teach basic car care.

The hobby complex is located in Building 1. 1227 in the Kitty Hawk area. The Arts and Crafts Shop is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Auto Hobby is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Open Thursday and Friday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Afternoon: 00
Dan Peck is a manager at Arts and Crafts and works full time in the woodworking shop with Scott Filbach, a part-time woodworker who does do-it-yourself work. All active military, civilians, and veterans have access to the woodshop’s facilities and tools.

The lumber store charges $5 per hour, but after 2pm on weekdays, you pay $5 per hour and the second hour is free. You can work up to 4 consecutive hours for $10.00. Prices for each type of hardwood are set per board foot, and customers can pay by cash, check, or credit card. When checking out at the end of the day, the user signs in and takes his sheet to the main customer service center and pays for the product.
